I was taking a train to Vienna from Prague in Business Class of the Regiojet company (www.regiojet.cz). I rushed to the train and because of a lot of work , had no food before traveling. And I must tell you, this is a very common problem for me and many people with full working schedules – no time for food until flying or taking a train!
So, I looked at their food menu, but it was very bleak – nothing vegan. In the end I got a bag of chips and an iced tea … barely surviving my journey. This made me a bit upset and surprised because Eropean rail is more modern and advanced than the US one, but what is lacking obviously is at least 1-2 vegan food options. A few companies like Deutsche Bahn recently added a few vegan menu items, but others need to follow as well.
The best thing to do in this situation is to complain…write a letter ! I did it below and hope I will get an adequate answer. The more people complain, the more likely it is that they will listen.
Hope that on my future journey, I will have the choice to order a vegan item from the train menu, until then, I should pack my bag with some vegan protein bars!
